God Has Spoken --

Today many people are saying that God has spoken to them. I do not know who has spoken to them. According to the Bible, God is not the one!

God has spoken to people in other ages. He spoke in the Old Testament times to the fathers by the prophets. He has spoken to us by his Son (Heb 2:1-2). Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would come and guide the apostles into all truth. He would bring to their memory all things which Jesus had taught them (John 16:13; John 14:26). No one living today was with Jesus and heard his teaching. Therefore, the Holy Spirit can not bring to their memory what they heard Jesus teach.

The scripture is all we need to guide us in obeying the Lord (2 Tim 3:16-17). We are to contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints (Jude 3). We have no need of a revelation from the Lord. The scriptures are able to make us wise unto salvation (2 Tim 3:15).

We are told that the gospel which we have in the Bible is the only one there is. “I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.” Gal 1:6-9

The gospel is called the perfect law of liberty (James 1:25). Since it is perfect, there are no additions or subtractions which can be made. This shows there is to be no revelations after the New Testament. Paul spoke of the perfect coming! In the context in 1 Corinthians he is talking about the miraculous gifts those people had. Each one was given a portion of the Holy Spirit. Their gifts were imperfect in that none of them received all the teaching. The New Testament is the perfect law of liberty and God will not be adding anything or any words through anyone!

God has spoken. “And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak." John 12:50 Jesus did not preach his beliefs but the words of the Father.

When someone says that God spoke to them, they are mistaken. God has finished his revelation to mankind. Any words different than the words which we have are false! Let me stress again, “As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.” Gal. 1:9.

God loves you so much that he gave his only begotten son for your sins. John 3:16 He wants you to have faith in him through his word. Hebrews 11:6 Because Jesus died for your sins, you should be happy to repent of your sins. Acts 17:30 You should rejoice to confess Jesus as God’s son. Acts 8:37-39 God commands that you be baptized for the remission of your sins. Acts 2:38 He commands that you remain faithful until your death to receive a crown of life. 2 Tim 4:7-8.

The church of Christ is appealing to all people to go back to the Bible. We beg that all may teach the Bible and nothing else. We beg you to teach the simple plan of the gospel and the simple Bible worship. Division is caused between people who are believers by bringing in doctrines of men. Jesus says your worship is vain if you teach for doctrines the commandments of men. We appeal to you to follow Jesus through his word all the way to heaven!

Love, Vernon
